Jeepney ride: Tranquility

Nothing is more relaxing than visiting a place in the province. It is definitely far from your luxurious strolls in malls and resto-bars around the metropolis or even far more different from your usual days off. From the unsullied breeze, prolific trees and greenery fields, the picturesque view of Mount Makiling, a hushed barrio, a puppy and those two fat-bellied sows in a pen while one of them healthily giving birth to eleven young pigs. I even had a photo taken with the two female pigs. It was better than facebook’s farmtown...all these in one provincial vivid starry night, a totally perfect get-away to unwind.

Destination: Batangas!

Lucky enough, we’re not required to splurge in the office for the long weekend to do some archiving. And as planned, we headed to our co-associate’s hometown in Ibaan, Batangas for the annual fiesta. The celebration fell on a Friday but since we have work, we managed to celebrate it on weekends after all, If there’s a will there’s a way.

It was fun and terribly awesome. The food was overflowing. The family of our officemate —the Ilagan’s and their hospitality were truly overwhelming. Janno’s mom would call us “etoy” and “neneng”. You could actually feel the concern in them. Lastly, the occasion was not probably completed without the videoke machine. We enjoyed ourselves singing all night. Thanks that no eardrums were damaged…I mean the neighbors were very thoughtful. Haha...and we did a bit of drinking too.

With such a peaceful place, one thing that I did realize is how to appreciate the things around your workplace that your work is a job that isn’t dreadful — you still have your friends with you.

It was a feeling like being home again in Leyte, really a good weekend.
